Never automatic, never guaranteed, and never equal to switching jobs. Company goals are to make the most money and pay you the least to make you stay long enough until they let you go.
Been in the biz 25 years...and have had annual cost of living increases early in my career. But haven't seen annual salary increases since around 2000. Switching jobs is the only way to do it...Unless you have a jetpack on you.
Agreed. Must actively ask for reviews and discussions with your supervisor on goals. That helps seed expectations higher up the chain. Typically supervisors will speak with their supervisors on that conversation
They’ll tell you at 1-year but it's really maybe at 18-months and it’s not guaranteed
Yes. Annual. 3% if you re average and don't suck. Promo around 10%. Been here 15 years. Same every year.

I have had a raise every year of my career. There were years I had to fight to have a review but I feel lucky.
Private agencies more likely to give annual raises than publicly traded ones.
