I have been working at RGP for past two years and I tell you it's a great company with awesome people. I know quite a few ppl who have been here from 5 years to 15 yrs The variable pay structure is awesome. You can work when you like and get on various types of projects with small and strategic clients as well (Google, Facebook, Toyota etc.) A lot depends on your marketable skillsets. I highly recommend RGP. Let me know if you have any additional questions.
I've worked at RGP for a little over a year after working at a competitor for 5 plus years. My favorite thing about RGP is I feel like they have my back 100% as long as I make an honest effort and that there is pretty much zero firm administrative busy work you have to do. Consulting projects in general are hectic and harder situations. You have to differentiate between the project and the firm. I have been on the same client for the entire time but I have been told multiple times by RGP leadership that if I want off no problem.
Comp is purely variable with a known hourly rate and 1.5x for all time over 40 hours each week. I like this model because I get my money for my effort timely and I never feel like I have some bonus hanging over my head that I need to stay on a crappy client to collect. I would say a lot of their consultants tend to be older and in my mid-30s I am definitely one of the youngest ones. I feel like they're trying to recruit younger (as they should). Overall I am very happy with them.
