About to join McKinsey as a post-MBA associate. Any seasoned consultants willing to provide advice for how to ensure a successful start?

Currently working at a 3rd year analyst at a major bank. Focusing on Corporate Treasury sales for the first 2 years and most recently in e-commerce product development (payment processor). Looking to transition into a product manager role at a tech company where I can work remotely.

Has anyone had similar experience or has any advice to share?

I need a change so badly I’m on the verge of tears almost every day. I’ve invested so much preparing for this career. I know I have so much talent that’s not being utilized. I feel stifled and stuck. I don’t need the health insurance but I’m terrified of giving up financial security. Any suggestions in NH for a sp ed with a MS in ed tech integration and a CAGS in Ed leadership. I am driven by identifying systems and creative problem solving and also have a background in art & design.

We need to STOP glamorizing overworking. Please.

The absence of sleep, good diet, exercise, relaxation, and time with friends and family isn’t something to be applauded.

To many people wear their burnout as a badge of honor. It’s time to consider pivoting.

Has anyone completed the Google PM certification? If so, did you find it to be beneficial to your PM career path?
I’m looking to pivot from Finance to Proj Mgmt and currently working through the Google course in order to sit for the CAPM. My only PM experience comes from stepping in on accounts I manage, where there is no PM presence. That means, most of those tasks were related to the budget and scoping, not necessarily execution. Is this enough to land a PM role?

How to make a leap from UI/UX into product design? What skills should a PD have? With 5 YOE and I still feel like a junior. I have a good eye for visual design, but I'm a bit scared of the business strategy, analytics and testing part. Where do I start to learn those skills? Does where you get your masters degree matter? I’m in an online environmental science masters program at an expensive “name-brand” school, but have colleagues telling me I should transfer to a less expensive program to save $ because no one cares about where your degree is from. I recently lateraled into Big Law. Most of my colleagues are homegrown. My shift did involve a big change in practice area, and there's work that I haven't done before that I now have to do.

But, sometimes I feel stupid here, even for work which I have done previously. It's like I'm unable to understand instructions the first time around. And I have seen my colleagues getting annoyed by that. It's like I've become dumb. In my defence, I could say they're giving half assed instructions.

I have been in Risk Advisory for about 5 years but I have been feeling extremely bored with the work and I am currently contemplating my next career move. What are realistic career opportunities for me excluding technical accounting, internal audit and compliance? Would obtaining an MBA help my career prospects?

Fully regret completing my MBA at a non target even tho I got into some M7s, mainly for ego reasons. Did the MBA to break into consulting, and I did but wondering if I would’ve been able to get in with MBB through traditional channels had I done M7. Now I’m finding it impossible to even get interviews at MBB

Hi, just wondering how the staffing situation has been in strategy consulting in general? My sibling started a job in strategy in Silicon Valley 2 months ago after MBA. Does anyone know if Infosys Consulting typically has a remote structure? I have a higher base offer from another consulting company that I prefer, but they have a travel requirement of potentially up to 50%, whereas Infosys claims to be flexible on allowing consultants to be fully remote in the future hybrid environment. Got a verbal offer from Deloitte to join their Audit Assurance Group in Phoenix Data Manager Specialist role for 147Kbase / 5K joining bonusNeed some help to evaluate if I’m being low balled. Annual bonus which is called AIP in Deloitte is not defined in offer AIP is not a set percentage and varies based on year and individual performance assuming nothing on first year but gets better after first year.
