Is there a tax practice that involves lots of tax research and doesn’t require a lot of compliance? I love the technical side of tax and don’t mind spending all night researching a tax issue (that’s what got me into a master of tax) but I just hate hate compliance side of tax

I had two interviews last week at good PI firms. Hopefully I will finally get out of ID for 2023. I’m so done with it. I know plaintiffs work has its own challenges but I’m so over the tedious time entries and clients cutting my time and micromanaging my every decision. I have a partner who routinely ignores emails or responds to them several weeks later. He has to approve every single document sent to the client or the court, which means you have a physically go to his office to ask him to review something. Half of the time you go to meet with him in person, he’s either on a call or otherwise busy. I find that this basically creates more work and makes meeting deadlines extremely difficult. Is this normal?
