Does KPMG have a clawback period for CPA exam fees and prep material (ie Becker)? I just joined the firm this month as an S1 in business tax services. If I were to leave in under a year hypothetically, would I have to pay the Becker course back? Thank you!KPMG

Would you know how long it is or where I can find any information on it?

The only thing I’ve ever seen was the CPA bonus having to be paid back if you leave under a year of disbursement… I never saw anything about the Becker course or the exam fees having to be paid back

likehelpful

Thank you! That’s a great point!

I think Becker is like actually just a month to not pay it back? You can search on the intranet to find it. I want to say Becker and fees was a month or two, CPA bonus is a year from the date they pay you not from when you start

like

Just to add, if you came in as associate but got promo already then you actually still do get the bonus as long as it’s within time frame.. I got the bonus paid out after I got my promo, but I came in as an associate which is what qualified me

Never seen anyone have to pay Becker back, they won’t bother I’m almost 100% sure. It’s Pennie’s for the firm anyways

smart

Agreed and hoping for that. Thank you!

I just offered an intern a full time position as an account coordinator with a starting salary of $50k. They have only been an intern for 2 months and have no prior experience. They acted like $50k was a huge slap in the face. Am I crazy for thinking $50k is reasonable for entry level in Toronto? I am not authorized to negotiate so they will have to take it up with HR, but I am still just shocked at the reaction. Please tell me if I’m totally out of touch!

Is it crazy to leave my job at EY to take a lower paying position in industry? I'm a recently promoted tax manager making about 140k. I've been considering going to industry for a while, gotten a couple offers, but they're all pretty low (<$120k). Honestly, the $20k difference isn't that much, but I've also been considering taking job that pay maybe $90k and doing work on the side (my own "firm"). But it also feels strange to accept such a lower salary. Thoughts?
