Does Littler have cool events? I'm trying to see if they have retreats but can't find out on their website. Are there any other perks working there over OD or JL that's more on the "wine and dine" category than cold cash? Are the offices on par?

Also, I heard AI is banned?

There is an associate retreat that they fly everyone out to. AI is not banned it’s actually encouraged and we developed our own internal AI program. My office has lunch catered every week and we do monthly office happy hours.

like

That sounds like the office I worked in.

Are you in Texas? If so, is it the good office?

AI is not banned. There’s an Associate and Counsel conference - it had been every year but I think it’s moving towards every other year or 18 months

Littler literally built an in house AI engine so idk what ur contact is on about

Are OD retreats “cool events?”

likefunny

Not when they're held in San Antonio and its > 95 degrees with high humidity.

likefunny

There’re associate and partner retreats, and practice groups also have big events. AI is definitely not banned.

JL has cool events, happy hours, etc. What office are you looking at?

like

Do they still do June weekend?

like

Hanson Bridgett does retreats

like

When I worked there we had an associate retreat, I believe they still do it (I left a few years ago so not wildly removed)

like

Offices are generally newly renovated, free parking, annual associate retreat, etc….

AI is encouraged not banned.

ODs retreat is pretty much mandatory for associates and takes place over the weekend. You also can’t bill for it.

Littler does give some billable credit for attending

Littler’s most recent associate/of counsel retreat in Phoenix was pretty solid. As others have said, you get billable credit for it. Would perhaps be better if it were an all attorney retreat like OD does so associates can meet more shareholders that they want to build a relationship with.

How do you deal with firing guilt? Is that a thing? I can't help but feeling like I did something wrong.

Long time in the making; but we finally sold off from our 50% HWB short. We had two tests at the 3400 level, getting as high as 3420 today before the sell off. Momentum and pessimism over lack of stimulus could take us to the 3107 target quickly, nearly a 10 percent decline over the next month. Stay short my friends. It's going to get bumpy.

I have a governmental entity client in Texas that wants to offer 6 weeks of paid parental leave for all employees, even those who aren’t eligible for FMLA. After the paid 6 weeks, the employee can choose to continue paid leave using any accrued personal leave.

Texas does not have a paid parental leave statute.

If paid leave above what is required is offered for parents, do we also have to provide the same benefit to other employees that are eligible for unpaid leave?
