PEP is post-exposure prophylaxis and is only prescribed for a period of 28 days when you had a potential exposure to HIV. It is not the same as PrEP which is pre-exposure prophylaxis and is generally prescribed to individuals who have high risk of being exposed to HIV, but is taken regularly preemptively before any exposure.
Sounds like what you have been taking, assuming it’s been longer than 28 days, is not actually PEP but a different form of PrEP.
Thank you. I have been taking PEP for 15 days now. My question was for the best 16th to 28th day, am I protected. Looks like the answer is yes. Also, I don’t know for sure I was exposed to HIV, but taking it as a precautionary measure.
Please talk to a doctor or even a PA or nurse. Your health is too important to crowdsource info here! Take care…

If you've been taking biktarvy daily, that's basically prep plus an extra ingredient, so you're protected. Look up the ingredients of biktarvy and descovy or truvada to see their overlap.
As someone else said, ask a healthcare professional! You will almost certainly need a separate prescription for prep going forward.
Thank you!! That’s what I did. And there are studies where Biktarvy worked better as PEP.
What medicine are you using. Usually you use truvada and tivicay. You can continue using truvada as prep although there’s a newer version called descovy. If you switched to descovy I’m not sure how it will work but if you stay on truvada then you’re fine
I don’t think that’s approved for prep (or pep even)
I don’t think it does … get a free appt from Mistr dot com, I get my descovy there for free.
