Does your supervisor give your team a hard time for changing shifts? Ours has a cow about half the time, and I don't understand why. We're making sure our shifts are covered. All she has to do is switch some names on the schedule.

Two theories:
1--Laziness. Doesn't want to switch the names and if one shift is slightly longer, then they gotta recalculate the weekly hours for each person to make sure no one goes over the allotted time.
2.--they already prefer the initial setup because they feel the folks originally scheduled for those shifts were the best fit (work ethic or temper-wise) because of the work flow or folks who come in.

Frankly, I think it's #1 the most.

#1 isnt necessarily laziness, many times managers have to get approval from their superiors if a switch is going to cause overtime.

It’s probably about performance discrepancy. The manager has to balance the schedule so there are enough stronger employees on every shift. If you were the only strong employee on that particular shift and your coworker isn’t as efficient as you are that would leave the shift supervisor with a weak team. It’s good to cover your shift instead of calling out but if it happens too often it can cause problems

There is a lot involved in doing a schedule and many times the average associate isn't aware of all the factors involved. Best fit for lack of a better term is a big part, scheduling your strongest teams during busy times, most experienced teams (the 2 aren't necessarily the same) when there won't be a member of the management team on site, there can also be situations where 1 employee is not supposed to work with another, associates who are incapable of working alone,.the list goes on.. Total hours can be a factor as well. As a manager I simply required associates wanting to switch to clear it with me first, in over.20 years.I said No less.than a dozen times.

You can’t really do cleaning when it’s busy. If I have a long shift then I clean. I mane time for it. I always leave abit early cause I buss. It doesn’t hurt to start early if there is cleaning to be done,

I want to know when do you think is the time to stop contributing to HSA? We have insurances that can take care of majority of expenses. I am 31, married, with no kids yet, no major health issues.

Is there a way to get closer to the 58000 total contribution limits in a 401k after initial contributions up the 19500 limit? My employer match isn’t great but I’ve maxed out my contributions this year and they’ve only added an additional 1500 so I’ll be at 21k total in the account for the year.
