I ask because I’ve let my credit spending get a bit lax since moving and adopting a puppy recently, so I haven’t been paying them off in full every month like I used to (though still well above the minimum payment, and keeping utilization at 30% or under). It got me thinking about how many people adhere to this advice.

Do y’all do 15 year or 30 year for your portfolios? I personally plan to have a “job” or “career” for both the next 15 and possibly next 30 years, so should I just do 15 years to get a free and clear portfolio earlier? 25 year old and just getting started. Have a duplex in a major market (looking to refi out of FHA), and eyeing other opportunities now. I don’t “need” cash flow, so should I try to just build equity?

It may be genetics but I admit that I have not been especially kind to them over the years in the way that I apply/ remove makeup (trying to be more gentle now). She does not have any real work experience outside of her lab (3 years) and an adjacent internship. Another factor is she is just generally feeling burnt out on school after the last few years.

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.
