Document it. If there’s policy offense, HR could move them into a non-management role.
You’re right and I worry that the self interest is “abusing these people makes me feel better or like I’m in more control”

Based on the restrictions you've mentioned, either put up with the BS or change jobs.
Thanks. Trying to convince the latter, seems like there’s no actual way to fix this. Annoying that even at senior levels these people are unavoidable

It depends on what level of pushback they are willing to do, what the consequences are for pushback, and if they are being singled out or this behavior if across the board.
Yelling. Personally not going to tolerate it. Pattern interrupts often work. Having a bad day , John?
Or interrupting and forcing clarification.
So, am I understanding you correctly, you are upset about x and you want y?
In general, you handle it like you would a 2 year old tantrum. You ignore it and proceed in a calm voice as if they aren't being a total imbecile. Not easy, but effective.
If it's frequent and systemic, record it and report it to HR. Regular yelling and demeaning language is harrassment and not tolerated in F500.
Lots of post on FB on how to handle micromanagers, do a search for that part.
This is good advice too. And correct, micromanagement is a style and nothing inherently wrong with it in a way that would warrant action. In combination with the other things it just amplifies the problem

Is switching to another practice an option?
This is a F500 role, the person isn’t eligible for internal move for another year yet. And being a large company it can be hard.
Leaving the situation is best
Outside of quitting, not really sure what can be done.
I’d yell back. I’m not standing for that shit.
You could always go for the wild card and tell them that your transitioning and that the way that they are behaving has affected your mental health in transition and then raise an HR complaint because you can hit them both on the fact that it’s a toxic work environment and also you’re protected class
