Hello all,
Would like to know specifically about Queer inclusion at SocGen Societe Generale. What is the attitude of mangers and HRs towards treating LGBTQ identifying candidates? Is company really inclusive or it’s just a lip service? Considering an offer with the company but being an out and proud Queer woman, super anxious and concerned.

Every executive departure is an opportunity to bring in somebody who can maximize growth, not address social injustice. It's appropriate to argue leadership used incomplete or inaccurate criteria to measure an individual's ability to achieve their goals, where culture, heritage, and perspectives can all be factors, but not as a blanket statement that genetic criteria should be the primary consideration (i.e. not prioritizing it causes partial death). Companies are evaluated on performance before wokeness.
100%, and knew that my post was reductionist in its simplicity. However, optics play a major role in the industry, and our eyes have been opened to the injustices and inequities within our industry (along with so many others). The optics make an impact within the company, and send ripples across boardrooms and zoom calls for the following months. Maybe this person is the right one for the role, or maybe he was the easiest person to transition in - I don’t know. All I know is that our industry needs to change and performance (also not genetic) is measured over time.
There are definitely plenty of talented PoC execs out there and we’re seeing progress which is good. I worked for an agency for a bit that was very boys club and when working on a diversity program, head of HR said “our approach is to add diversity from bottom up.” Their approach definitely had a ripple effect.
I agree with you, especially when you consider my namesake's recent wave of exec promos...
But having known Mike Law at previous agencies, I'd prefer him (very Prodiversity, and great at what he does) over someone who checks optics boxes. Think about company growth with the opportunity to grow more diversity hires up... Don't sacrifice one role if it has a chance to yield many more thru vision and leadership
Gosh, maybe he was the best candidate for the job (no, I'm not a white guy). Advocating purposeful exclusion of a specific group of persons in the hiring process is illegal and immoral. Shame on you.
