Tell them the truth? And use your soft skills to explain why? Not hard. Definitely don’t lie.
I am leaving primarily because of my manager. The way I am handling is by letting everyone know where am I heading next but when he asked me, I politely said I will evaluate ones I move out!! Do you guys think I did the right thing by doing this ? (I wanted to keep water under the bridge but just can’t)
Ya if the reason is money, every one can usually understand and empathize
For a couple of people that just left in my group, they both said they had multiple offers and hadn’t decided yet. Basically, a polite way of not saying anything
I always ask because I want to know who’s hiring... I’m looking for jobs too, you know? Selfish.
I am baffled by the amount of people on here that suggest not saying anything or claim to have not said anything when they have left a company. I have worked at multiple companies over 12 years, have had several people who work for me quit, and outside of this app have never once encountered or even heard talk of someone declining to say where they were going next. That would be more of a burned bridge from my perspective than someone telling me they were going to a direct competitor.
Where are you headed to? What are you doing next?

U’d see it on LinkedIn in a few days.
