You get your raise % and new salary. Then the partner tries to convince you that it's extremely competitive and that you should be happy with it.
Do all levels have compensation discussions?
EY 5 - is that accurate? I've always heard it's only about the %. That's why people say over time higher ratings are worth a lot because your base the raise % applied to is larger
Comp
You can ask, but the partner probably won't tell you. Ask your friends to get an accurate picture
So I saw on another thread that if you got a 4 in previous years and get a 3 this year, your rate will be lower than other 3 rated colleagues?
Am I allowed to ask about the raise range for different rating?
Thank you EY1!
The reason a 3 rated years 1 and 2 will get a bigger raise is because they have to be brought into the lowest senior salary. Since you were a 4, you might get a slightly lower raise %, however I'd still expect you to be making more money than them as a senior 1.
EY3 do you mean each office has a minimum senior salary? Thanks for responding!
The partner is just going to give you the numbers and tell you how blessed you should feel. Unless you get the guy I met with last year, who went on a tangent about how women quit early. Because family. Or some shit. Just know it's a complete waste of time and can be awkward
Not each office, but probably more by region. Basically you can't have a staff 2 making more than a senior 1, so yeah there are ranges
They set your salary for your rank/rating combo, and then just back into your raise %. All 4 rated senior 1s will make basically the same thing, even if some got a 3 as staff and some got a 4.
If you received a rating you'll have a compensation discussion with a partner. Be careful, sometimes partners will try to lump any bonuses into your percentage increase to make the increase sound better before you can do the math... Because despite being an accountant, I can't calculate that s*** in my head.
I don't know for sure, but in my experience, EY5 is correct.
Yeah I'm pretty certain based on my comp talks over the years and discussions with people my rank. Notice also that your salary is always a round number and raise % is not
I haven't gotten this discussion yet. When is this
Usually in August
Office Partner leads get comp released to them and then partner groups get together and can adjust the salary up or down a little bit. Then comp discussions happen after performance discussions happen. So usually starting mid August.
