Black women made the career switch from corporate America to entrepreneurship during Covid-19. While it appears entrepreneurship was deemed a necessity, Black women were the largest group of new business owners closely followed by Latina women. These businesses have high growth potential but why is access to finding still a barrier?
Share your thoughts on why.

Recently Store Managers have been offering me jobs from different locations but same company in my town. The company is T-Mobile. It’s going to be my first job. I have a couple questions for any former/current employees. Is it better to work for T-Mobile, metro by T-Mobile, or a third party T-Mobile? Any difference in benefits or wage? Thanks

Maternity and paternity leave doesn't hinder career progression.. Any firm that hinders one's progression for taking parental leave is leaving themselves wide open for a massive lawsuit. Vacation and leave doesn't hinder your progression people... It keeps you sane... Take it
To my understanding you don't have to take 16 weeks off in one shot. I was told I could take one week then work for two then take off another week and so on. You have to take a full week off and just take random days off that'll amount to 16. You also have to start the program within 6months of child being born. I don't see this hurting your career progression at all - especially if it's during non busy season. I for one am going to take advantage of this stellar program.
Take all the time you are given. Woman with 2 leaves taken for kids, one during busy season. Should still be promoted to sr mgr on time. Should be no difference for a man. It is so much more fair to men and women for men to get paternity leave. Please take it.
I know plenty of people taking advantage
My senior manager takes paternity leave. He comes back for things like the quarter, but mostly works from home. He's definitely on the partner track and it has had no impact.
The irony of this post. Hahaha.
I just got my 16 weeks approved by my counselor. 3 weeks off at the initial birth in mid December and the will take the rest starting the end of January. I know what people mean about wondering about it inhibiting progression. Almost seems too good to be true. Just found out got promoted to manager so I figure why the hell not. One of the reasons we work for these big companies is for the benefits and flexibility so it is up to us to take advantage.
*Leave*, not *peace*. Although....
It's a good thing. Having a child, even when you "think" your prepared, is a life changing event. You need time to figure it out. Firms know that when you have time to identify and deal with all the new stressors, you are a better employee. Have the conversations and take the peace.
Just like for the ladies, if you take the leave (maternity, paternity) during the key busy season period, you might have to repeat that year (since experience years are measured in busy season periods).
Those weren't my intentions. Honestly the post is kinda refreshing because as a woman myself these are conversations that historically only plague us but that dynamics changing, which is nice.
I've missed two busy seasons and it has never hindered my progression in the firm.
Oh I completely agree with the irony.... But to be fair don't turn this into men being all pissed because women get maternity leave.
I'm a male senior who plans to take advantage. So far no one has made me feel guilty. rather, the higher ups have encouraged it. Makes me want to stay with the firm much longer, which I think is the goal of the policy.
My Sr manager was there for the birth and day after but then back at it since it was late February with public filings. He later took a week off after everything. He made it sound like the partners would give him a hard time for trying to take off a serious amount of time. I think it depends on the time of year and partners you are working for
Multiple guys on my teams said they won't take all 16 weeks. Booked 3-4 at the most. Too scared. Please donate them to me
