I have close to 9 years of experience with technology consulting across India and the US with Deloitte US( I was hired at the india offices of Deloitte US). I have been admitted to Ivey business school for 2023 batch. Post MBA, I want to make a move to management consulting as that was one of the biggest driving factor for me to purse an MBA. From my research I gathered that getting into MBB is extremely difficult due to very few openings. What can I do to boost my chances of getting into MBB?
Anyone care to shed some light on UBS and their inner workings (culture, career growth etc) Considering a position in their Reg Reporting group and Glassdoor isn’t cutting it.
Have wanted to move into finance / investment management for a while now. Thought I would do it after B School. Senior Analyst w/ ACN. Should hit C by EOY '18. Final round interview with cont...
Applying for a role that requires a one minute video as part of the application. They asked for a link to the video. Do you know how only the hiring manager can see if it's on a video hosting site,
I've been extended 6 times on a project and have been in the same sort of role for about 12 months. I've told the manager I'd like to leave, but I found out I might be extended again..
Ex-Big 4 folks at MBB: how has the experience been for you so far? Any of you been in a situation where you’re coming to a MBB in a lower role but have excelled in moving up quickly? (Or not.) Thinking about making the leap but would love to hear if the MBB hype was worth it. (FWIW: My work hours are 65-80/wk so I’m pressed to think it’ll be that much worse on the other side.)
If ur doing implementation work at MBB, how easy is it to transfer into strategy at MBB?
How is MBB Canada pay compared to US?
Interviewing tomorrow at another Big4 firm for a 100% travel position that has "McLean" as the location. Would they ever be okay with me not living in that area? If so, when to bring that question up?
Anyone go from boutique > independent > MBB? Or does it make more sense to straight from independent to industry? Independent right now, commercial pharma space.
Assumptions during quant case studies: how often are you expected to come up with your own assumptions for numbers within a case study.
How is Capital One’s strategy business analyst group viewed for exit opps and how is wlb? I did not know they had a practice with consultant types until recently.
Thoughts on Kearney compared to MBB?
Hi. Recently have got an offer from CGI. I have heard a lot of good things about this organisation. I am dropping my joining to one of the Big 4 to join here. Is it worth it? Please comment folks.
Travel starts again. Going back to client site. WFH was great while it lasted. All good things come to an end.
Anybody have terrible wrist pain and bruising happing on their right (dominant) arm? I have a standing desk and standing chair.. not sure if too high or too low or if a padding issue. I have a mouse
What tools or resources do you use to determine if your salary is competitive? (Example: I use Glassdoor.com)
For pre-MBA associates going into PE from consulting, how often are offers extended past the 2 year mark? I’m worried that if I switch over I’ll be losing out on job security.
Infosys reached to me today offering a new role… after some research, not interested. PTO: too low (10 days), 401k 3%, Comp. and bonuses seem low from employee feedbacks. Cannot take a role with higher responsibilities and low comp and PTO lol
401k match question - what are the benefits for your firm? For Accenture we get 100% match up to 6% (total of 12%) after we are employed for at least 2 years. Just wondering how it’s like in other consulting firms.
Thinking of going to Alaska in July for a week. 1. Is it worth going if on a tight budget? It seems that many of the excursions there are $500+. I'm definitely not looking to spend that much, more in the $50-75 range for an excursion. 2. My wife will be 6 months pregnant. Is there a lot to do considering that (obviously we won't be able to do long hikes etc).
When there is a huge line of people (30+) for the deli at your home office, but the lunch lady surprises you with your favorite chipotle chicken wrap already toasted and ready. #winning #goldstatus 😁
Unpopular opinion: consulting is not any more challenging nor does it generate more experience than working in a demanding/high-profile role at a large company or startup. As someone who’s been in all three, I don’t see how people can argue consulting YOE > operating YOE. In fact, I could easily argue the opposite. What do y’all think (I’m expecting serious hate lol)
I am in a product development role and I also am involved the sales of the product. Should I get certified scrum master or certified scrum product owner? Both? If none of the above or something else, please elaborate reasoning.
Getting married soon - I always assumed that after the wedding my fiancé would move onto my Deloitte insurance as it’s a lot better than his corporate insurance. Now I’m hearing that companies (cont.)
Just got called with an new job offer that I really wanted and they told me the salary and asked if I verbally accepted it - I said yes but wished I asked for a but more money. Is it too late now?
Has anyone rejected an industry job offer from a big company (one of the largest in Canada) with a managerial title but with lesser salary? Don’t know if I did the right thing.
Hi All, could someone tell me what the M3 / M4 / M5 (if there's one) compensation (broken down by salary and bonus) is for EY's Strategy & Ops (formerly OTS) practice? Is growth there still robust?
