Y'all are missing the point man. It's timeshare. Smh
I might be in the minority on this, but I honestly don't understand buying a vacation property unless you can visit regularly (every couple weeks). Otherwise there is no possible way that it makes more financial sense to buy rather than Air BnB or renting...
Ah. So its a timeshare situation? Pass on it... Timeshares are terrible investments/ideas. The meager amount you save doesn't compensate you for being forced to go there every year, and often you don't get to choose the weeks you really want
Don't buy a timeshare! The maintenance fees will kill you, the value is zero, and you'll never be able to sell it. If you really must, at least buy one on the secondary market for 1/10 the price.
A little confused here. It's $81,000 US dollars for 1 week? Or 95k spg points for 1 week? That can't be right
Something doesn't add up. $85,000 is a lot of money for a week at a hotel. 95,000 points is nothing - it got 100k when I signed up for the credit card. Where is the disconnect? Where does the 95k enter?
Thank you guys. After reading through the comments and researching just realized that it is very dumb. Thank you again FB fam. You're awesome. Saved me from a lot of embarrassment. Really appreciate the help.
You sort of said it yourself...$81k for a week or 95k points...pretty simple decision.
It is a timeshare. I would own it for one week per year
Dumb move. Just use your points. We went to it also a few years back and with as many points as we make, it doesn't add up.
Trying to understand how easy/difficult is to rent a property in Maui.
Yup buy peoples used timeshares if you really want one... they're also trying to get rid of their terrible investment, but for much much less.
Not worth it. Google the secondary market. You can snap up timeshares for a fraction of what they ask in the presentations.
Or 176k villa options. They say this a sellers market. Never bought a vacation home before. Need your suggestions please.
It's $81k for a week at this location
If I need to use this to stay at a different SPG hotel in US or a different country I would get 95k SPG points using which I can book a different hotel other than this one
Net net .. I need to pay $81k to own this property
A1: I am buying a villa and not renting it. I get to stay for a week every year at this property. I can alternatively trade this for a couple of weeks a year at a different property depending on the season and demand.
They say that the blackout dates are Christmas to new year. Am I missing something?
D1: I can rent it or rent any of the other SPG properties.
