Man or woman asking shouldnât matter. That stuff always produces an odor and itâs super inconsiderate of her.
Iâm with BCG1 here. Anything that is strong smelling in a tube of recycled air is over the line. Smelling bad, eating onions, painting nails, etc., are all bad form
Absolutely not rude on your part - definitely on hers.
âPardon me, would you mind waiting until laterïżŒ, the polish smell is giving me a headache.âïżŒ
Omg. Iâve never heard of someone doing this. Yikes. Definitely talk to the flight attendant. I hope she didnât cut her nails as well...
I would say something! It is just like spraying perfume or cologne on a plane! Deadly!
No; my dad gets the same thing from acetate. Maybe share that you have an extreme sensitivity to the chemicals in the polish and ask her if she would mind doing that after the plane ride? Seems totally reasonable to me and a nice way to deal with some serious misjudgment on her part.
As a woman giving this advice, I think its totally reasonable... Idk what else to say to that đ€·đ»ââïž
From a safety standpoint, itâs also quite flammable. Iâd be shocked if this is allowed.
Just alert the FA. Iâm pretty sure it isnât allowed.
^ this.
Itâs not allowed. If the FA sees it, theyâll immediately ask her to put it away. Click your FA button and order a drink while sheâs painting her nails.
Thanks all for the suggestions and support that I read after landing.
Update - I waited till Ms. Polisher was done and asked her to not do her nails on the plane in the future as many have my chemical sensitivity issue (the migraine started the moment she brushed the first nail and was not going to stop, so no point in not letting her finish up). I was very polite and positive, and she said she âusually doesnât do this but sorry.â
I asked why she did it this time and she just shrugged. So I told her to please think of others next time and closed my eyes to let the jackhammers do their thing. Six hours later Iâm starting to be productive again...
Ask an FA, donât involve her directly
That is not rude. It's a noxious substance and shouldn't be used on the plane
It isnât allowed, I was scolded once for doing it, but it made perfect sense so I immediately put it away.
No thatâs not rude, feel free to ask away. Thatâs a pretty invasive thing of her to be doing.
Just bump her seat. She will get the message.
No. Itâs extremely rude and ignorant of her to have open nail polish. If youâre a guy, I recommend A1âs advice. Donât want anything to backfire.
