Max them tax advantaged accounts before thinking about taxable accounts. Top off that 401k!
I use Merrill Edge. Very happy with it especially with how easy it is to manage all BOA in one place
I’m a BofA customer and thinking of transferring my brokerage account from etrade to Merrill Edge so I can become a bofa platinum honors customer and take advantage of those benefits:
https://www.bankofamerica.com/preferred-rewards/details/
Im trying to convince my spouse it’ll be worth the hassle since we don’t get any benefits from having a large account at etrade. So in your case,
I would personally pick Merrill.
The cash back rate on the BofA credit card when you’re a platinum honors customer is really good (you get a 75% bonus, so for example 5.25% cash back on gas instead of the usual 3%).
A brokerage account with Merrill since I have BoA, E*TRADE since I have the Roth, max my 401k with EY, or open another entity entirely such as Robinhood, vanguard, etc. assuming I want to remain a mostly passive, savings oriented investor with the potential to play around on occasion. Thanks for any input!
Get rid of .0001% checking. Get a 1.85% savings with CIT if you want to br safe. Maybe put 20% onto vanguard total stock mutual fund.
CD rates are 🔥 right now. Just put $50k in a 1 yr for almost 2.5%
First max 401k. Then open investment account and/or high yield savings/CD as mentioned above
Acorns
Thank you fish, good point about the tax advantage! From there ignoring CDs, thoughts on preferable brokerage considering my current accounts? Got one vote for Merrill.
Wow great find, thank you! I currently have the cash rewards so that’s quite a deal.
