I'd take Deloitte, but I wouldn't count on 25% bonus. I was consistently rated a 1 while at Deloitte and never got the 25%. I did get as $5K spot bonus which was nice.
OP- on the surface EY sounds better based on past performance. But it is getting very top heavy so extremely difficult to get promoted to SM or PPED. To top it, the firm does not have an up-or-out policy so filled with mediocre of sub-par people in leadership roles who just pull rank.
Decide which clients you want. The audit conflicts in the NYC client base are real and that changes your outlook. As a manager level that matters.
I think EY has had phenomenal growth these past 5 years and the kind of people who are there in leadership vary from highly competent to incompetent. Deloitte is more cut throat I think. I maybe be completely wrong here
That’s odd. My SO works at D. I use his insurance, fitness related benefits. Anyways, welcome to EY!
I know D’s offer is more attractive $ wise but from career perspective which firm is better?
Deloitte for sure
EY is growing at a faster rate
For financial services I thought EY is bigger and better, is that not the case?
Deloitte is certainly a stronger brand name and marginally better $
@OP likely depends the offering. I'd still go Deloitte unless you have a reason to be at EY (culture, fit, expected responsibilities).
Thanks all, this makes sense. I guess both firms have there pros and cons. It is a difficult decision. I like EY from FSO perspective but have heard similar things as EY1 has mentioned. Deloitte is growing for sure but cultural fit and vision is yet to be figured out on my side
Director 2. : can you elaborate ?
I think there are many view points. Impossible to know the exact culture at both places as they vary by team a lot. It is essentially same kind of work and politics. Just that from future growth perspective what is better? EY or D?
I have heard horror stories and good stories at both places
Hey OP I'm debating FS between D and ATK. Wanna talk shop? Pokemon@pokemail.net
OP which practice in FSO are you considering at EY
ATK
I am considering PI
M3 I would imagine ATK being better brand name. Will drop you an email
Don’t count on 8% bonus that is very rare. Recruiter told me 10% target and think I’ve gotten 3%, 6%, 3%
What did you decide to do OP?
Interesting. I ended up doing Deloitte > ATK at least in part because of benefits (like 16 weeks maternity/paternity leave vs. 2 weeks). I guess EY is even better
