I’ve been with PwC almost for a year now in the valuations group and I don’t see myself doing this long term. 90% I’m helping Audit Teams understand valuations and 10% I’m doing PPAs. I always wanted to go into more a consulting role (ops/strategy role). I also like modeling, but the current modeling I’m doing is more accounting focused rather than finding business value from synergy creation. Ideally I’d like to stick with PwC but I’d switch too. Thoughts where I should apply too?

What exactly does a generalist path entail?
Generalist refers to a consulting path where one is not attached (yet) to any particular function or industry, so you could work with any kind of client or issue, at least in the initial years. And not in relation to digital implementations, though digital strategy could come up as a topic
So wouldn't their interest be a consideration?
Well they’re contemplating both
Integrative consultants focus on solving general and/or financial business problems, which may or may not overlap with digital studies. These empirical and problem solving skills translate across many industries , including digital or technology. The difference, though, is that digital studies also entail real, operational aspects of technology, whether it’s a product management, go-to-market, architecture/engineering or unique monetization models that require deep knowledge spikes. The questions you get from a client in a tech study quickly get into bits and bytes, so you can’t just be a smart person and wing it. You actually need to understand the specific tech sector and technology. From a pragmatic perspective, it would be optimal to have both the technical depth plus the business/ quant breadth, making you super valuable to a TMT or other digital CST.
