I’m a post MBA consultant making close to $200k; I occasionally toy around with the idea of going GS for WLB purposes, but agree - it’s incredibly difficult to come in at a similar salary/level.
It wouldn’t be a pay-cut - it would be a pay-limb-removal.
What type of work do you do or what group is this at EYP? I'm in M&A now and it's a grind with an expectation of weekend work more frequently than I'd like (a call at least every Sunday night).
I was offered a GG12 step 8 . It seems like it depends on the agency. They tend to not want to bring anyone in from outside at anything higher than GS 13 except you were contracting within the same agency.
What agency did you apply to? Did you apply for a higher GS but got offered lower than expected ?
I've thought about it as well, but just looking at those pay tables... jfc. Even active duty pay tables look depressing, how are these younglings even surviving right now?? Pay looks almost the same as when I was in back in 08. My plan right now is to take the plunge once my mortgage is paid off to get a govt pension on top of corpo 401k/IRA. Stress free, get ALL the holidays off, work for our country instead of investors, what's not to like (except the crap pay ofc)?
I’ve thought about this approach too. Wait till you’re in 50s or something after the 30s / 40s grind.
