Seniors: a managers best punching bag.
Hi guys, Now VMware is offering me a 35% percent hike of what I am earning at DellEmc. I just completed one year at DellEmc. Total 2.7YOE But I don't like to go out of Dell, due to some personal commitments I am planning to switch.
Is it a good time to switch?
Can I talk with my manager ?
Are they able to hike the salary of what VMware is offering? Please suggest me.

You don’t have to put down your boss specifically as a reference unless the instructions specifically require you to, is basically what I’m saying. I have beef with one of my old firms but am still close with a senior associate that still works there, so she’s going to be my reference for that job.
Does it have to be someone that still works there? If so:
Best case - if you are friendly/cordial/on good terms with someone who still works there, that’s your guy. If you’re not on good terms but still know someone who works there, reach out and ask that person to put you in touch with HR for employment verification for your bar application (even if you left on bad terms they usually just do it). If you don’t know ANYONE who still works there, you have to get a bit creative with your Google research and/or see if you can track down anyone you know who worked there that left the most recently OR who you know would e the likeliest to stay in touch with the people who worked there. (Example: I externed at a beverage company in law school, and my friend who did the externship with me went on to work there for 3 more years and stayed in touch with leadership even after everyone left the company, so I check with her first to see if anyone she talks to still has a connection to someone currently at that company)
