Op it will benefit you in a sense that you don’t need to worry about studying while working, you don’t need to sacrifice PTO to take exams or study for it. Other than these personal benefits, there is not much difference in a staff or senior who has CPA vs another who don’t. CPA is a requirement to become manager so it helps but again, you won’t get bigger raises or anything like that just because you have CPA. I am not trying to discourage you, it is a big accomplishment but there is no additional benefit other than getting the CPA bonus and reimbursement of CPA exam fees.
It will definitely benefit you in the long run. I wish I would have been able to get mine done before I started. Like SA 2 said, you won’t have to sacrifice PTO or balance work and studying. Overall you will be much better off and less stressed with having it done before you start.
Cont. Other than the bonus, will having this done as a first year associate benefit me? For example, will my superiors respect me for the work ethic? Or will it just benefit my long-term earning potential?
Yes, immensely. You will be able to to focus all of your energy on doing your best work at work, and not have the distraction of needing to study. Congrats and good luck!
Think about it this way — do you want to work a full day and then go home and study for a few hours?
Where the go home and log back on?
Yes it will benefit you, I doubt anyone will actually care (or be impressed) that you got it done before starting full time. Congrats and good luck with your last exam!
Superiors will definitely admire that you have your $hit together compared to peers
