I’ve been at counsel for a while. When there was a salary increase my first year as counsel, I got a bump (because otherwise I would have been making $5k less than senior associate TC). I did not get any adjustment for the special bonuses. But I‘ve had annual bumps of $15k for a few years and $10k more recently, so I’m still above senior associate (but not by a lot). I’m not expecting anything to come from this for me.

One year when I was counsel there was a mid year associate bump and counsel wasn’t raised until the next January, so spent 6 months making less than a senior associate. Was not thrilled. The January bump was just to $10k above top senior comp.
