I was married but spouse self-employed. We got health insurance on the marketplace for 3 years. Priced have gone up (esp now with a family of 3), so the marketplace is now just slightly higher than our insane premium from work.
Does your firm not offer health insurance to NEPs? Mine does. Also the tax situation is going to vary by firm. I am an NEP but W-2 so no changes. Overall there were no financial changes for me other than making more money.
Gotcha. My firm is $3700ish a month for health insurance for a family at the NEP level. Not sure if that is subsidized at all. It is not a great plan but it’s a PPO and all I could find on the marketplace was HMOs which I didn’t want to do.

When I was NEP was also W2 and heath insurance was provided and subsidized.

I think KE gives you a K-1 and no longer subsidizes your health insurance, so you end up paying $5-6k per month for coverage for a family. Not sure if they’ve started giving a stipend though to cover insurance costs. You still pay partnership taxes though, I think.
