For the people who have the personal Amex platinum, do you think it’s worth it? How does the point system work? I see you get 5x points on travel, what does that equate to? Does 100,000 points = $1,000 ?

Agreed with IBM. Not a good card for points.

The cost is worth it for me for the Uber + peacock + airline + other benefits. The centurion lounge is also great if your travel through an airport that has one.

like

I have it and for me it's worth it but not for the points. With how much I travel, the centurion lounges are used at least twice a week and the other benefits all add up significantly.

like

Depends, a conversion of points to dollars is .01, which is about the worst redemption value. But if you converted them to travel and used say 80k miles for a one way flight, you could come out better than .01 redemption value. Sometimes they also have discounts on flight purchases with miles that get better redemption value too. You’d have to do the leg work to figure it out.

I use Amex Platinum card and it’s totally worth it for me. It’s for $695 for an year now but how it compensate:
1- you get $150 if you have Amex corporate card which I’m assuming you do.
2- you get $200 in Uber or Uber eats which you can easily use
3- you can use $200 in airlines benifit
4- you get $200 in Fine hotel collection which you can use for any 5 star reservation
Most important is if you book your travel with Amextravel you can actually spare a lot of pain of talking with the airlines support. you just call Amextravel and they will coordinate accordingly. They pick up your call in 2 mins if you are a platinum member. It’s been so helpful especially due to covid a lot of my trips were affected.

Btw if you do end up wanting to get the Amex Platinum card please do let me know so I can refer you to get some points.

Don't forget the pre-check /global entry is covered. I stagger my family of 4 so we never pay to renew global entry.

Does anyone else work with school district doing IT work for. My end goal is getting to an ISD school

Will you be going back to the office on a voluntary basis when your office opens?

While most teachers are protected by teacher unions, I feel my voice hasn’t been heard at all with my concerns of going back to school next week. Our diocese has decided on full return 5 days/ week for all 42 schools despite a recent increase in COVID in our communities. Every other school that I know of in my state is either choosing remote learning to start the year or a hybrid approach, yet that was not an option for us. Are other Catholic schools I. The same boat? Stay safe!
