I met my gf on ok cupid 3 years ago!
Sigh. Figures. I miss having a community
Also, anyone here *not* white? The qtpoc community tends to be a bit different in how they suggest meeting up/getting out there. I've seen lots of people say they're not into black folks ._.
OP, not exactly a hookup app like Grindr is, but you can try looking on Her. It's a dating app for us girls. I met my SO off the app and we've been together for a year now, and adopted two cats. (Living the cliche, I know.)
You'll definitely have better luck with more active 🌈 communities when you move to a metro area, but give it a shot. When I was traveling, even places like Utah had some active users on the dating apps. You never know. :) With the app, I found that manyyyy girls lack social skills. So like any dating app, you have to sort through a lot of weirdos or people who can't hold up a conversation and keep the banter going. You also have to be a little more assertive, otherwise y'all are just waiting for each other to be the first to message.
I'll kiss a queer woman
Undergrad.. DC lesbian scene is severely lacking fyi
@OP, in terms of the poc question, if you're going "out in the wild" the same people who reject black women on apps will also reject you in the real world. The only way to prevent that would be to go to POC specific parties or bars, but that's just the same as using the "filter" feature on the apps to sort by race. My point: it seems to me that using apps and going out in person have the same cons for poc
Oh OP what city? I'm queer and black 😬 I've tried HER which wasn't a success at all.
Found my bf on Grindr 😂😂😂. We've almost been dating for a year now.
Okay but say Grindr is out (I'm a woman)... There's no lesbian equivalent, right?
But so is the consensus that apps are it? No one met their SO in the wild?
I guess it depends? My queer friends who met their SOs in real life all met during undergrad/grad school
Yeah :/ where do you live? I know NY has a ton of LGBT bar/club nights and general event stuff
Middle of nowhere, but moving to either DC or LA by the end of the year
I met my soon to be husband on Grindr 5 years ago. There is an app for lesbians called Scissr. I haven't heard great reviews from friends who use it. I would definitely recommend Meetup.com! I've met lots of friends through it.
EY2 0-100 in true lesbian fashion 😂 I'll try Her, though I'm not sure about my current city.
Met my bf on a gay hookup website (grindr didn't exist then). Together for almost 6 years.
Met my husband in a shopping mall 10 years ago.
Fair enough C1- I think that's why I've been more of a hermit in the community except when it's a strictly qtpoc event/area/etc
