Interesting, I have an interview next week, the SMD mentioned chips and that I’d be eligible so I’ll make sure that is an offer if we get to that point. Is that tied to quarterly utilization or monthly but paid out quarterly?
I’ve been here 4 years and I still have hardly any idea, but here’s what I have gathered based on conversations at comp time with my SMD. It seems completely discretionary. As far as I’m aware, SMD’s make their bonus requests for everyone on their team to corporate in January. Let’s say the SMD asks for 500k to divvy up among 20 staff. Corporate comes back and says we have bills to pay, here’s 300k. And BTW you can or can’t give these specific people over X amount because their utilization wasn’t high.
So then the SMD and corporate work out final numbers and likely disappoint most people.
Higher level staff (mostly MD’s and above) are eligible for stock options and also forgiveable, non-secured loans. The company gives you loans and then forgives them as those people bring in new business. If you want to go down that rabbit hole and figure out all the weird stuff we do with loans, I’ll refer you to our obtuse SEC filings.
Some groups get CHIP, which are overtime bonuses paid out quarterly. That helps. I wouldn’t come here if they don’t offer you that.
