Yes. I hate to get to the end of the interview process and it’s lower or not what I was expecting.
Yet, I almost always reply to them and ask, point-blank, for details about the full compensation package. It provides data for my next salary adjustment conversation, and those leeches have wasted enough of my time that I don't feel bad wasting some of theirs.
100%
Absolutely! A major red flag. I would stay away from that if I were you.
Yeah. The reason companies do this is to avoid discouraging qualified candidates from applying. Additionally, most employers have an acceptable pay range for each position. They're looking to get the best candidate for the lowest price. By giving salary details upfront they may be giving up some negotiation leverage.
I never apply for a job that doesn't have pay included.
Agreed - however before my first call ends I always level set with the company. I mention I don’t want to waste their time or frankly my time either - what is the realistic compensation range for this role? It will either satisfy me or it will not and we go from there.
Yes
Nope, I’ll still apply. But make sure to bring it up ASAP.
Yes.
Yes. I dealt with this not too long ago. Applied and interviewed only to find the max salary was well below what I was already making.
For sure. They want to see how desperate you are for a job.
There are some people who will take 20k less than what maybe the target is (70k to 50k for example) if it effectively guarantees them a job. Which it could, if you chose less than all the other similarly qualified candidates.
I always go by the "whoever says a number first loses" mantra. It's sometimes unavoidable when the interviewer asks you point blank what you make now. The best answer is one that you can avoid giving.
Yes!
Yes!! I leave those towards the end of my list
Yes.
Absolutely why would I even apply for a job that would pay me less than what I am getting where I’m currently at so take that into consideration and post the salary so you don’t get an influx of highly qualified people expecting a much higher pay, and now you’ve wasted both their time and your own
Nope. I still apply but ask very early in the process to the recruiter. If they don’t disclose or are shifty I move on. Unfortunately not all jobs disclose OTE
Yeah I avoided applying for jobs where the salary posting was vague
No. Not including it makes no difference to me.
