Set boundaries based on what matters to you and be flexible. For instance, I always have dinner with my girls. That means I’m up earlier than everyone and go to bed later. But it’s important for me to be with them for dinner and bed.
I don’t have any advice but there is a Women In Accounting bowl and they talk about this stuff all the time
This is why I’m leaving public accounting

Leave FORVIS. That place will run you into the ground.
I left almost for the same reason in the last couple years. There are better hours and a lot better pay out there. Don’t be afraid to ask for it.
I left for industry. Never work on the weekends anymore. Much better family life.
Working mom with a 2 year and a 6 months old baby - I hate busy season lol but have a set schedule helps. Maybes waking up early to get a few hours of work done before the kids wake etc
Make sure you always take at least that one day completely off and get outside when you do, get plenty of rest, rely on the support system you have. Keep up with the one thing you do with your kid(s) every day. Get up early, work late ( but not late enough to not get your rest) and brave through it reminding yourself it’ll be over before you know it.
But aren’t benefits so much better at public?
In industry vs public my health insurance alone saves me thousands, plus employee stock purchase program nets me thousands each year, plus awesome brand discounts, on top of similar pay as public with 30% less hours. And similar PTO. Minimal overtime and no weekends. It's a win win for me.
Is it worth it to leave public?
BkD has terrible benefits and insurances when I was there one year again.
What if public is offering remote and industry is in office full time? And what if you were planning to have a baby in another year? What would u choose?
They mean :" why do you have to pick up one of the 2 options mentioned? Try to get the third one with both remote and less hours"
I work 6 am to 6/7 PM M-F. Which pretty much covers my hours for the week. Maybe work 9-1 on Saturday if need a few more hours. I don’t have kids tho.
I’m in SALT but more on the sales tax side. There is not a “busy season” per say. I help with Personal property tax returns in the spring which is why the elevated hours plus I help with some federal compliance if needed.
