Big fan of LifeTime. The equipment is good and there’s lots of space. Some locations have basketball courts and pools and cafes too.

I prefer crunch! Very lively and a good range of equipment. Business depends on location, and some are newly renovated to have more equipment (because of the popularity). So I would check out the ones near you with a free trial first.

Yep fidi is not too crowded. I go to union square and the peak hours can be brutal trying to find equipment. But lots of squat racks and benches for chest.

I used to go to 24 Hour Fitness. Not sure if it is still around. One of a few places that had a pool.

Lifetime is really the best one in terms of "nice" and price combined.
Blink sounds like a zoo I've never been
Crunch is okay, I've been to a few and I find their layouts to be very cramped... equipment very very closely spaced together
Lifetime had huge open spaces very airy, fresh, new, clean, and a modern upscale relaxing color palette
If you have classpass you can sign up and take 1 credit/visit to Crunch
