I am not very keen of studying and that, ideally is the reason why engineering or medical was not my cup of tea. I chose Journalism and Mass Media. In the academics, we had multiple subjects and one of them was Writing for media. This was the beginning. This is where I thought I can be a writer. A Content Writer. I can't help but notice that the most touted exit opps mentioned here are all 'G&A' positions - S&O, CorpDev, Strat, etc. Aren't these positions the first in line to go come layoff time? Prod Management seems like it would be more insulated from layoff pressure (so long as your P&L is in the black) though even that could come under budgetary pressure.

What would be an example of 'layoff-proof' exit opp?

I've been a solo for nearly 20 years and built a small firm from the ground up. Now my practice (5 lawyers plus support staff, total 13 people) is being eyed by a midsize firm. They want me to keep building what I've been doing, except with their resources behind me. It sounds like a wonderful opportunity, but I'm torn over giving up what I built.
