Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

JP Morgan is four months for birthing and non birthing parents. Deloitte does six months for both as well.
Love this for them. Wish I had that
Accenture US gives everyone 8 weeks parental leave and birthing mothers an additional 8 week maternity
USAA parental leave is 12 weeks regardless of birth status. I adopted my daughter when she was 11 and still got the full 12 paid weeks
Remote work is going away mostly within company. Sept goes to 3 days in office and January to 4 days. Most positions are now only open to “hybrid” now which means you have to live within 60 miles of an office to fulfill in office work requirements.

Sure I will share ours. We have offices in several states and around the world. For leave:
We comply with federal FMLA. State and Federal FMLA runs concurrently. FMLA and PTO run concurrently. If employee is eligible under state and federal, the more generous of the two applies. This includes pregnancy, military, taking care of a health condition for yourself or immediate family. You must use up your PTO first then FMLA. Your job, or an equivalent, is protected. Upon expiration of FMLA if you still cannot return an extension is granted under the condition it’s a disability.
As far as remote work, it is on a person by person basis. Obviously our warehouse workers cannot. Customer facing positions cannot. Non customer positions can negotiate. I live in a state with no office or warehouse so I am 100% remote. There is another employee on the west coast who is also 100% remote. Most of our non customer positions have a hybrid schedule and work from home 2-3 days a week.
For the birthing employee they get 6 weeks Paid Short Term Disability and 12 weeks paid FMLA for a vaginal delivery, if C section + 2 weeks of paid leave. Totaling 18-20 weeks paid. Non birthing parent gets the 12 weeks paid FMLA.
This is for salaried employees.
Hourly employees, not considering Union agreements get a sliding scale of pay for the time period.
My company does FMLA (birthing/nonbirthing/adoption) but you have to use PTO first (or use it up beforehand) when FMLA starts. FMLA/parental leave is all unpaid for both parties. Have the option to take STD if you're enrolled (that would be 6 or 8 weeks paid depending on if delievery was vaginal vs csection) which would be paid at a portion of your normal salary (not full amnt). My husband's company does 2 weeks paid leave for nonbirthing parent, it used to be 6 weeks paid but they just cut it down. Neither of our companies differ based on in person or remote workers.
Yep. I work in healthcare too, he works in sales. My last baby I wound up returning to work 3 days after a csection because I knew we wound have a long nicu stay and i would use up my fmla and pto too fast otherwise.
