Moms bowl strikes again!! I love you gals!
BCG loves their people so just ask for a later start date.
Sell the kid and just retire
Wrong thread.
No worries i think some people will answer like they did with the last mom who posted - we arent savages
Whoops
Roommate got a concussion and BCG moved her start date 6 months for recovery. Fairly sure maternity leave counts as valid reason to negotiate your start :)
EY3, it was an extended recruitment process that dragged on, then all the sudden the hiring manager (former partner) wanted to move quick and told me to quit during paternity leave and burn a bunch of bridges. I needed an extra month. The guy said no. I know it’s not the same but the principle is similar: if they really want you they will wait, and if they want you to quit during leave that’s the type of boss you will be get. It sucked but I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
PS- if you quit during leave your employer will likely terminate you ASAP with insurance implications and some companies require you be there for 30 days before insurance kicks in
BCG is incredibly flexible with start dates - welcome to BCG!
Wrong bowl. Negotiate. You should be fine. Read Sheryl Sandberg's "Lean In" book too, for sure.
Give me that offer:)
If they want you they will wait. Same thing happened to me with an industry offer and they would not wait an extra few weeks. Told me a lot about who I might be working for...
Nothing more to add than what’s above on topic, but since nobody else has said it - congratulations on the newborn!
Thanks for being nice and helping! Lol I read to quickly when I was trying to post
S&1, industries sometimes have their hiring and budget cycle quirks. Consulting is obviously more flexible - specifically the partnership firms
Yep agree on all counts
Thank SM 1
Thanks everyone on advice
TL;DR
@Director 1: TL;DR - Yes, negotiate.
(Really? It’s 30 words, two and a half sentences. If that’s your “too long” threshold, I weep for your teams.)
