Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I was lucky to be made a manager in my current workstream w/ only 2 years of experience (typically takes 4-10). The new dept originally offered me an managerial role based on that, but after speaking with higher ups, said they can’t give me a managerial role because of parity issues with other members of the team. The new comp offered with the analyst grade is only peanuts above my current pay. Advice?

Just became an ACD. Im in a limbo. Half of the time im being treated as a Super Senior AD and the other half im being treated as a Almost CD. Then when im scoped over work that my CD and I oversee, some people are asking me how does my role differ from the CD’s, as they tend to look at me as an unnecessary layer for approvals.
