Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

do ui/ux. better pay and u can fall back on graphic design w some tech companies under ur belt. U cant fall into ui/ux after first going w advertising as its much more specialized
Ux and UI are very different fields... Just because you cna make things pretty doesn't mean you can do UX and just cuz you can think through flows doesn't mean you can do UI. Pick one and Excell at it unless you're both visually and strategically gifted.
That said go into UX or UI since the pay is usually higher (much) in tech jobs. Then if you wanna look like a god and switch to advertising later come through for a big paycheck.
Did you at any point transition from doing Art direction to UI or UX design? What was the experience like?
The pay is higher than working at network agencies? In my limited knowledge, i head both are comparable.
I graduated with a communication design degree, went the advertising route as an art director. Still wishing I chose something else 😂
Well I like the role because you get to come up with fun random shit that might get produced, but the truth is those chances are hard to come by, even as you progress from a junior, depending on the client you get and how much the GCD/ECD can push them creatively. Less than 1% of creatives working in advertising get to actually work on the type of ads that made you want to pursue advertising. As for coming from a design background, you’ll find that what passes off as design in advertising pales in comparison to actual design studios. I sometimes wish I tried set design/art direction for music videos, making something that isn’t tied to selling a product (technically still selling the music but a lot more subtle with the huge logos). UI/UX pays well definitely and you can get roles for it in-house, at an ad agency or design agency etc but it might get a little restricting. Also, different strokes for different folks haha, I had 6 internships but they were all art direction cause I really wanted to get into advertising then. I wish I took up internships that were completely different to try it out for myself. Maybe you could try that out for yourself!
That said, getting into either art direction or UI/UX requires certain type of work in your portfolio. Just because you did UI/UX doesn’t guarantee you a role in art direction and vice versa.
For god's sake do not go into advertising. Be forewarned!
Can i get a bit more insight into your point of view? I’d like to know more based on your experience of the industry
