H1B visa folks - how do y’all with the cope with the stress of layoffs and economic downturns? I have a US degree and I don’t have a license to practice law in my home country, so I’m very scared of having to move back (bc I don’t know what I’m going to do). Lots of attractive jurisdictions for US qualified lawyers like Singapore and London are difficult to penetrate right now. Any thoughts?

What should I expect from my manager? I've stuck it out for a year now and all I'm ever told is to not make mistakes. Manager stated explicitly that he does not want to review or test my work. Any attempts at discussion of why I made a mistake are dismissed by him as me making excuses. I never get any positive feedback. Serious billing question - if during the course of the day, you first receive an email from Client A at say 11:10am and you read it, you then respond to it at 12:20pm. You get another email at 2pm from Client A and respond immediately. The next email comes in at 4pm, you read it and respond only at 4:30pm. None of the email responses take more than 3-5mins. You are working on matters for other clients at all other times during the day. How much are you billing for Client A?
