It’s okay, I recently had an interview with google (mind you, they reached out to me)... for a role that wasn’t exactly aligned. When I got to the final round interview in person, they pressed me on “why google?” seemingly aloof to the fact that their search party reached out to me 😂. I get it, that question is important as is “why did you leave your last position?” but prodding too much won’t change the answer lmao
So my colleague interviewed with cognizant and turned the offer down. The recruiter low-key threatened them by mentioning how small the consulting world is and people would know they turned down the offer. Then was very persistent to the point of harassment when they didn't want to move forward.
New CEO is busy firing the dead weight . He will eventually get to this person who interviewed you . I would have said something like “you need to get out more” before I hung up on him .
Just like everything else, there are some bad recruiters out there. Why did he even bother? Sounds like there wouldn't have been any answers to satisfy him. Sorry you had to go through such a sad waste of time.
Wow, I’m very sorry to hear you were treated that way. Don’t understand why someone would even go through the trouble of interviewing you if they thought your job history was an issue. For what it’s worth... I’ve worked for 5 consulting firms over 14 years and has never been an issue for me
I’m sorry you had that experience. My Cognizant recruiting experience was interesting too.
Long story short, my recruiter became irrationally mad when I asked for an extension to hear about another offer (senior year of college when such asks are definitely a normal part of recruitment).
There's something to that, though. Like if you didn't say what made you look, you technically didn't answer the question. If you said they came after me then that answers the question.
Opportunity was better. Instead, he thought I didn’t answer his question correctly. “I didn’t ask why you joined Firm B. I asked you why you left Firm A.”
Oh how I’d like to know who this guy is 😂
