Happy Friday. Hoping I can get some development help. My agency doesn’t have job descriptions for every role in the dept and the ones we do have speak in generalities. No hard skills. This makes it feel impossible to know where I am and where I need to be in terms of skills. I’ve asked my manager, nothing. Sucks me being new to the discipline.

Any advice, charts, structures that would be helpful in mapping out my career growth and development in way that focuses on hard skills/outputs?

Currently I work for a small company that does the construction of small cell utility poles and roof top sites for the major cell carriers like VZW, T-mobile, AT&T and so on. I am a project coordinator but I do everything under the sun. Created project tracker. How far into implementation and execution do you get as a strategist (and what's your specialty). I notice social strategist tend to get way more into the executional portion, even writing copy etc. whereas brand strategy tends to roll off once the briefing process is done. Does brand strategy ever go on shoots or vendor/production meeting and are they responsible for it? Just had an unclear moment where it seemed like I was expected to vet production partners and I didn't realize I should've .

Starting to think about making the switch from agency to brand side. Any tips from strategists who have already made the jump? And is there a level at which it makes the most sense (i.e. should I wait until I make Director and then make the switch, or does it not really matter)?

Have to do a strategy assignment as part of hiring process - how much work is expected here? I'm approaching it like I'd approach a briefing for a creative team so a long thought out inspiring explanation of insight and strategy. Is that about what's expected?

What’s is like going from social strategy to brand strategy? Advice for making that career jump?

I’m a senior planner leading one brand and there’s a new strategist on the team working on a sister brand. They’ve been asking for every strategy deck I’ve made on that brand as an example to go by to inform the thinking/flow on the sister brand. Also because I mentioned it went well with client when they ask. All for sharing thinking w/ the team & I know we feel imposter syndrome to varying degrees, but I also feel like it’s good for planners to find their own voice/style/flow. Thoughts?
