Hi guys,
Need help,I am joining VMware Banglore on 27th June. During interview I told them I need wfh. They said it wil be wfh this entire year. Only mistake I did was i didn't permanent wfh. I took for granted like once I join i can opt for it ( as my VMware friends had said we can opt for it)
Now the offices have started, I am scared if they call me to office , I have 14months son, not willing to leave him n go for office.
So if I ask manager to give me permanent wfh will they agree ?
Dear all,
My friend is trying to get into her 1st full-time job. Previously she worked as a UI UX designer for multiple clients (freelance). But she couldn't manage to get an interview call. She is an excellent UI UX designer and an illustrator. If anyone has any options, kindly comment below, I will share her resume. She is a btech graduate with 2 year experience in ui ux designing/illustration field.
With kind regards Infosys Cognizant Tata Consultancy EY
Cisco interviewed me for 3 months for a couple of roles and then offered me comp that is considerably less than my current comp for a product manager role!! They also said its cisco policy to not offer rsu for mcol cities. Rsu is apparently only meant for candidates in hcol cities.
Need to punch a bag every day for several days to get over this bs.

I was just laid off too so same boat! I wouldn’t worry about your reaction to the news as long as you don’t burn the place down on your way out you’re good. I don’t think you have to get into it in interviews just say you’re freelancing looking for a new opportunity, bc in all honesty that’s what you’ll be doing. DON’T go in on your old agency in interviews and show your ass, just focus on what you want out of your new agency (other than being gainfully employed 😂). I’ve been spending my time with my head down updating my book and trying to come up with side projects. That could be the thing to get your foot in the door and necessity is the mother of invention 🤷🏻♀️. I normally try to stay away from creative contract companies since they eat a good chunk of your rate but they help pay the bills and a lot of them offer healthcare. Don’t get down on yourself for settling for something temporary to pay the bills. It doesn’t have to go on your resume. It’s not Mr. Right, it’s Mr. Right now. Don’t forget to do little things for yourself to keep from going crazy. Go explore a new part of the city. Emil recruiters/work on your book from a new cafe. And remember, getting laid off is not a reflection of you, it’s a reflection of your company. You’ve got this and you’re not alone in it!
I’ve been fired multiple times in my career. Not laid off. Each time due to personal conflicts in values and ethics with my direct superior. I choose to stand by my values. So even though it hurts when it happens and is hard to get back up, I remind myself it was my choice to stick to my guns and make myself vulnerable. And we have to live by our choices and take responsibility for them.
You have guts. 👍 I feel it’s often petty reasons too.
Quick question: Never been laid off but: You have to be warned or on probation before you get laid off, right? Especially if your ideas have been selling/picked by clients? Or work you have done has brought in more business for your office? I have been feeling negative vibes from “uppers” lately despite my work has been sold in and wonder if it’s time to talk to a lawyer/backpocket.

Applied for something for the first time since I got here 2+ years ago.
I know this has been mentioned before - but go on a road trip. Take 5-7 days to yourself to detox. Stay with friends, go to a place close by that’s on your list to check out.
Keep a full calendar through the holidays with family and friends and then use those first few days in Jan to relax and reboot and then hit the ground running Jan 10.
No one is going to be hiring until January so do what you can to enjoy the forced down time
No shame in telling a prospective employer you were laid off - the majority of the ad world has at one time or another. Pick up some freelance - you might find you enjoy it more. And never burn a bridge, no matter how much you hate your old agency at the moment.
Dealt with a similar thing. In interviews, be confident and don’t go into too many details about your past agency. You can just say “I left the agency to start freelancing” and then focus on the present and future and your portfolio and passions/goals. Worked for me.
@CD3 - 100% agree. There’s no shame in being laid off, especially in this environment. Be honest or someone might be more likely to believe you’re covering up more than shame. Own it and state it plain.
Trust me don’t do what I did... I stayed angry and resentful, drank to much and generally became a miserable human with no direction and a really bad case of the fuckits day
