Happy to report that the week gone by was very relaxing compared to an intense June. Less than 40 billable hours on my timesheet last week. Went to the gym four times. And finished Season 1 of Stranger Things on Netflix. Life is good again!

I’ve been calorie counting and lost 12lbs in the last 2.5 months. I am going to an all inclusive resort for 2 week vacation, so the food will be unlimited and probably heavy in calories. How much can I approximately gain back in 2 weeks if i don’t calorie count and really enjoy food/eat as much as I want? Would it be less than 12lbs? Trying to estimate if I’ll be back to zero when I come back. (35F 5’7 only exercise is walking b/c of injury)

Hi ,
How long does Hr take to convey the result for a underwriter position in general
I have completed last round of interview on 4th of November.
Also the application status shows the last round of interview scheduled on 9th of November.

Hello everyone. How do I explain these gaps on my resume?

1. I took 12 months off from work to take care of a family member that was ill (2 separate times if 6 months)

2. Got laid off for 6 months

Because of these gaps, I feel like I get rejected from lots of jobs. How do I mention this in my resume? Thank you.

We know companies give u ctc based on last drawn ctc.
So suppose u earning 5 lpa
.U cracked amazon and they giving ctc 40 lpa
We know Amazon is an unsustainable company In terms of wlb.
Now use this ctc to switch to other good wlb company in 5-6 months like adobe etc..atleast they will match that ctc

How do you stop feeling like a total idiot after making a mistake? I’m a corporate junior and I screwed up a signature page today for a closing and it’s such a dumb error that I know shouldn’t happen. I feel like this team won’t want to work with me again even though I did a pretty good job everywhere else and I’m responsive and available. I hate this error because it just looks careless and lazy. I really liked working with this team and have been beating myself up about it all day.

Do you care? First year corporate associate and I don't care about practicing law in the slightest. I wake up, collect my paycheck, go to bed; rinse and repeat. I say no to a lot and delegate to secretaries and paralegals but still on pace for 1900-2000 hours (not that it matters as a first year).

Anyone have experience with the recruiter Jordan Block or his firm (“The Dory Group”)? Dude loves to talk about how he’s the grandson of (notoriously curmudgeonly) federal judge Frederic Block (EDNY) and talks an even bigger game about his connections for placement at virtually all of the V10… but before taking the leap and trusting yet another clown who underperforms/can’t deliver, wanted to see if anyone else has experience with him… TIA.

When the other associate(s) staffed on the same deal are being very competitive and pulling gunner on you (e.g., always available when partner emails 11pm, 2am or 4am and some occasional backstabbing on docs working together), do you play the same game? Hoping for some guidance. Junior associate here (3rd year). I’ve brought in 3 clients. Nothing major. ~ $500,000 in billings. I have an opportunity to lateral to a practice area I am very passionate about but my clients have active matters and therefore, likely wouldn’t come with me. Would I be stupid to leave my firm? Is half a mill in billings enough to even move the needle? The goal is to make partner. I’m worried that by leaving, I’d be giving up a real shot at partnership. Thank you!
