Has anyone been reading about that ex-BDO IT audit manager who shot her old manager and then shot people who worked in the building she lived in? She claims she had evidence of old manager committing fraud, reported it and then was fired. She says she took evidence of the fraud when she left and her life was threatened by BDO and clients. Then supposedly the condo employees conspired with BDO to let them break into her condo and steal her evidence. Her story doesn’t make anyyyyy sense to me.

Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I have been told my work product is good, I don't turn anything down, I participate in non-billable work, I'm responsive and I always let people know I'm available to help. I'm feeling a lot of anger towards my manager (now he's acting normal but there were moments where he was condescending/dismissive/mocked my and others work/arrogant/said stuff was "wrong" constantly/belittling the difficulty of tasks etc. in the past project).
Maybe it is "standard chewing out" but it bothered me a lot. So much that I find myself still getting all fired up inside thinking about it...

I work at KPMG and was told that I will not be promoted (from senior associate 2 to 3), but received pay rise as someone who was promoted. I was on a partner/manager call today and they were discussing the “high” turnover at the senior and experienced associate level. What was shocking is that while ours is about double normal, evidently we are 3 out of 4 in turnover meaning 2 of the Big 4 are even higher.

Is it a normal thing in Big4 to have a really slow and non-responsive onboarding?? I start with KPMG UK next week, and still don’t know how my 1st day will look like and what’s the agenda or my login credentials.
