Has anyone created a legal business (llc/inc/etc) for side work? Is it necessary? Risks/costs/benefits? My first loyalty is 100% to my firm, but I've had several connections reach out to me for Salesforce work that's too small for my company that I could handle as a "side hustle" and I'm trying to figure out the best way to approach it from a legal/invoicing perspective. I don't expect a ton of work, maybe $10k/yr or so over a handful of clients

I pay $500+/month for health care premium and after going to urgent care for an injury I still ended up with a bill that was over $500. Curious to know if any freelancers are not on a healthcare plan and how that affects your taxes for the year.

I was an SM2 vested in the pension plan (I worked in DTTL for 7 years ending 2013) and want to find out what my actual benefits will be and at what age. currently tossing up between staying at a global company (who is in the process of some positive changes) with an amazing manager who supports my career and flexible working … however comes with the inherit issues that come with a long standing global company

compared with a role at a smaller mga, higher salary (around 30%) more , more visibility career wise and some great employee benefits , management seem to be supportive and low staff turnover

Wondering to get some advice on how hard it would be or get an understanding of the market to get back into private accounting/advisory or financial analyst after stepping away for 2.5 years. I was in public accounting for almost 5 years prior and stepped away as a supervising senior in audit for a mid tier firm. Would love to get a chance to connect/network with some people.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.
