Hello fishes🐠. Can anybody guide me on the dress code followed in the BlackRock London office? Will be joining soon and want to ensure I dress appropriately (My current workplace is very casual, people wear jeans and sneakers). For context, a woman joining in a role that is not client facing, not portfolio manager. Thanks in advance.

My initial reaction: most practices are hiring numerous resources at every level. I would be surprised if there’s only one slot. You’re probably fine in that respect.
I haven’t dealt with that for EY, but did deal with that with another startup where they said they couldn’t formalize the offer for another 3-5 months because they got news to not fill the role til then. If that’s not the case here, you should be fine (most recruiters tend to be up front).
The NY thing is real (another gift from our government). Ask if your offer can be for Hoboken if that will speed things up?

Only applies to NYC five boroughs so even Long Island is fine. It’s annoying
My entire process with EY was 4.5 months. That’s first contact with a recruiter to actually starting in the role.

Background check thing is real. New NY law for those that live in the five boroughs that broke it into a two step process. They can start first part after you give verbal acceptance and the second part after you accept formal offer. It delays the whole hiring process by a few weeks
Yeah it’s two step background checks in New York now.
What's the reason of two background checks? I thought the government was really really left leaning? Lol
And the banks for themselves exempted.
That's weird. I received verbal offer right after my interview in August and written offer several business days later.
Ohh thank goodness!
Also note did you verbally accept the offer? I heard EY doesn’t give letters till you verbally accept too.
Yeah we discussed my target start date and comp and she said they were exactly in line with what they were looking for. Then she said to expect a verbal offer to come last Wed/Thur but I’ve heard nothing so far.
Classic EY.
Not in NYC but it did take three months for the offer letter
Three months?? Jeez
