Has anyone ever left a toxic job and only then realized how bad it actually was? I knew it wasn’t healthy, but once I got out and saw how normal workplaces function, it hit me how much I’d tolerated. At my old job, panic attacks were weekly, sick days meant guilt, and I genuinely thought walking on eggshells was just part of adulthood. The clarity you get after leaving is scary and freeing. Have you had that holy sh*t moment after leaving?

So, recently got put on a PIP after six months at my new job., two days after I told my boss and HR I recently learned I have a cognitive disability caused by an illness. The PIP was mostly because I forgot some deadlines, but also they said I need to be more professional in emails (even though others use zero punctuation and a lot of emojis. To clients.) and simultaneously ask more questions and ask fewer questions. Should I just assume this is unattainable and look for a new job again?

Jr. Associate at an AmLaw 100 firm in Central Florida. Good credentials; top 10% at T14, law review. Sick of private practice bc of hours and pressure. Also, not enjoying the work that Central Florida offers, but want to live here.

I’ve been bait & switched into a horrible role, overworked to the point of having medical problems, and no amount of diplomatic talks with my manager has improved the day to day.
