Has anyone from CLA gone to a different public accounting firm? Did they pay out the period of your 2 weeks notice, or did they tell you to kick rocks and not pay you out?

I don’t know the answer but I love your phrase “tell you to kick rocks” lol.

like

From what I know, it's all dependent on the person and team and the current needs of the team. They'll keep you around if they need you but might tell you to "kick rocks" if they're all set or in a slow period

like

I think they'll probably keep you around then in that case. But I guess plan for the worst and see what happens!

I was paid through my final day

CLA

I left twice and was paid out and got my PTO paid out as well.

You left CLA? I’m honestly looking at giving it early for that specific reason so I can stick thru the audit I’m working on right now.

Left audit at CLA to do consulting at FM. Was genuinely surprised they let me work, was kinda hoping for a 2 week vacation lol

Late October/Early November. Right when interim started kicking off. Stayed on long enough to get fieldwork done for 3 of our largest clients and ensure that there was a succession plan in place with my team. Granted our team was 6 people with only me as the senior, so I had the “opportunity” to stay on.

Depends on the office. At my office someone put it their two weeks and let them go a couple of days later

You should definitely try another cpa firm if you like audit. If you don’t Ike audit then change to private.

So I just came out at my small firm in a small southern town. Historically, I haven’t discussed my personal life at work— but I had to give notice anyway. I told the partners I’m moving to be with my boyfriend. It was a surprisingly lovely conversation given that I’m at a firm of rich old men, deep in the heart of Tr*mp country.

When is the best time to leave and go to another big4? I am at PwC and I knew the reputation they had and Some people said It may not be for me because of it. Ive been here a year and I feel as there right. My busy season is starting and I want to leave (not just because of my team) but as some of you may know getting along with the people you work with is a big part of wanting to stay at your job. I want to try to quit end of December and hoping to start a new position February.

I joined EY in January. Had no work all of January, but was busy for February and some of March. I have been unassigned for about 4 weeks now, sending availability emails to all of the service lines we are allowed to reach out to for work. I should not have come here 🤦🏼‍♂️ I know it’s nice to have some down-time, but when every day is staring at a computer, the days are SO long.

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
