You can't just say this and not share what happened if you want honest feedback. Feeling like you did nothing wrong is very different from doing nothing wrong.
I completely get your frustration, but I understand where HR is coming from too. If someone who isn't Asian made that comment, even if it is a "positive" stereotype, they could be in a lot of trouble. I can't see HR wanting to navigate why an Asian person can say something but someone else can't.
Nah, hasn't happened to me. You're right that people are sensitive, but, we know that when we walk in the door. Jokes I made in my dorm I wouldn't make in a place of business, and that's just the reality of it. Turns out life goes on fine without having to have fun offending people.
Coach
Someone once took screenshots off my social media page and sent it in to hr. They called me and said there was nothing wrong with the posts but made me aware that someone was sending them in.
Also, one time I got flagged because I told a coworker in person that I got diagnosed with rosacea, and I’m colored so was surprising. I wrote in the chat I think it’s because of skin color and that got flagged too.
Yep this happened to me one time many years ago. I almost laughed when I sat down in there because it was something so ridiculous that I couldn't take it seriuosly. I don't even remember what it was now but someome basically got their feelings hurt and took me to HR. Nothing came of it but it was annoying.
