Has anyone left a job 1-2 months after starting? I ended up getting a much better offer unexpectedly. I am dreading quitting because my boss is amazing and I am really putting them in a bind by leaving. What did you tell them?

Moving from a boutique (<30 employees, MBB competitor) to the strategy practice of a Big 4. Have only worked for boutiques in the past, so I’m expecting there to be some major differences in terms of working style.

What are the major differences and ‘watch outs’ you would point out to me? Could be anything from culture, to red tape, to compliance etc.

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

I'm a new joinee in MSFT.

People in my team they don't come with me for breaks. (They blame the timings are different since they sit in crits but i don't think so because they have their own group of friends to go with)

Secondly, when my team members see me in cafeteria we expect they'll sit with us but people here are being rude they directly go and sit with their friends they don't call you to join. ( atleast they could have said they are accompanied)

There’s no reason you have to put up with a job you hate. I spent many years working in a toxic environment with a boss who gossiped and lead through fear. He wasn’t really much of a leader but basically a foreman. And he could make my existence miserable. I admit that it wasn’t easy to find another job but the bottom line is: trust your guts. If you feel something is wrong it’s because it probably is. Don’t second guess yourself. Look for options and and fight for your mental health.

Random question, my boss wants me to become a notary so I can handle notarizing all of the official documents myself. Has anyone else been asked to do this for their employer? Is it ethical?

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with discrimination as an Asian in the workplace? In my company it seems like it’s a white boys club where and they just promote white ppl because they’re white. And then they have a lower bar for promotions for minorities (traditional minorities likes Hispanics and African Americans). Meanwhile they make Asians do all the work. In an auto accident trial, can you inform the jury in any way that the at-fault driver had insurance? I have a hard time believing a jury would award 7-figure damages if they thought the little old lady defendant had to personally pay.
