I did the opposite and left EY for Deloitte. The technology at Deloitte is miles ahead, especially admin portals like DTE, Talent on Demand, etc. The leadership culture is probably about the same, and I enjoyed my coworkers but am glad that I made the switch.
Deloitte technology is definitely way head but I hated my team at Deloitte and was depressed the whole time I was there. I like my current EY team and leadership and not as depressed haha. Oh plus I got the best raise of my life here at EY
Moved from DT to EY,
DT far ahead in technology space. EY is just catching up.
As for teams/people I have worked with, I love my EY team and people in general compared to when I was at DT.
In terms of make -I have found EY is more inclusive and at DT a little more of the same kind /race of people after a certain level. Maybe it was the office location but how I felt.
As for work, it isn’t much different.
I hate my EY experience, they are passive aggressive and fake nice
I think it depends on the team. In every company you have good and bad teams. It is all about luck.
Sounds like a good option from a comp perspective. You’ll get more going Deloitte to EY verse the opposite. Technology def better at Deloitte and even if the hours are bad at Deloitte don’t make the mistake and assume they can’t be worse at EY (they most definitely can be)
I recently left EY for DT and would echo the sentiment above. Firm technology at Deloitte is much, much better. I also left my EY team because I was spending a significant amount of time doing admin as a manager. My team at EY was extremely understaffed and I was not able to grow in responsibility or skills as a result. The kinds of work I was doing was pretty much the same from staff through manager. I found many people at EY below the PPMD level had very weak technical skills which I felt contributed to insecurity and overall anxiety within the hierarchy at EY. So far I’ve found my new Deloitte team to be much more functional and non-toxic. As usual the answer for these kinds of questions, is that the team you work with are going to be much more important than the “culture” compared between massive firms.
I left EY for Deloitte and technology is definitely better here. Culture depends on the team though so can’t say much.
Same as everyone here
Deloitte tech is light years ahead
Better staffing and resources
Bigger engagements
And less hours
Also ey is fake nice, the second you piss off someone they will put you on the worse accounts with terrible staffing. They will never fire you but make you want to leave
My husband did in ITS. Said the level of incompetence at Deloitte was absurd and he felt he was on an intellectual island as just a senior. I’m sure that is not true in all offices and disciplines but he’s much happier at EY.
