I started investing late last year, mostly early this year and was very very tempted to invest in FnO(Options mostly, cuz Futures ka paisa nahi hai 😐) and then use the profits to buy long term good performing stocks. I then read couple of books and spent some time on zerodha varsity and decided to invest using FA and scrapped the trading idea completely. FOMO hota hai bahut when i see few friends book profits and my money is just stuck there, hardly 3% up. I might get into trading stocks just for this. Do loss ho jaega, dimaag thikaane aa jayega
I dont know why I am replying here because you have way more experience in the market than i have but from the fear point of view, fear is there on both sides is all I'm saying. If you have a very long horizon, like i have decided for now, i mean decades long, then there will be so many recessions, crashes and whatnot and that will also keep anyone up at night. I think about this a lot and despite my initial scorn, i think i might be looking to distribute some funds to passive stuff like and index fund and even debt in the future. I already have little bit of gold in my portfolio, helping me a lot now
I just have one question for anyone who gives this “decades of investing” logic (at the cost of sounding euphemistic) - how do you know you’re going to live that long? And are you investing for yourself or for the next generation? These were questions I asked myself before coming up with my trading strategy. I am an option seller and have been making 8% - 12% consistent returns per month for the past 1 year. This is my main trading game, and I use profits to buy index fund dips on days like today when nifty moves 100-200 points. I invest in mf and some good quality stocks for the long run and don’t book profits. The option selling part requires good capital but I don’t mind because it gives me good returns as well.
OP have you considered put selling? I assume you must know basics if you’ve gone through varsity.
